The Prayer Quilt Ministry

What is the Prayer Quilt Ministry?
This ministry combines the gift of a hand-tied quilt with the gift of prayer for someone in need.  The essence of this ministry is in the prayers offered for the recipient; it is not about the quilts.

What is a Prayer Quilt?
Very simply, a prayer quilt is a quilt that is made with love and tied with prayers.  Each knot tied into the quilt represents a prayer that is offered specifically for someone in need of those prayers.  Our quilts are displayed at the front of the church and an invitation is extended for the congregation to tie a knot as they pray. As each knot is tied, a silent prayer is offered for the person in need – someone who has asked us to pray for them.  Most tie knots after the service has concluded, but many visit the quilt with their prayers before or between services. What makes each quilt so special is not the pattern, color or workmanship, but the fact that prayer is symbolically tied into each one.  There is nothing magical about the quilts; they are simply a tangible sign of prayer, love and concern for the recipient.

Who gets a prayer quilt?
Any person in physical, emotional or spiritual need of prayer may receive a prayer quilt.  In most cases, someone will request a prayer quilt for another person who is in need of prayer.  The person who is to receive the quilt is always asked to give their permission and also asked what they want the prayer request to be.

How can I be a part of the Prayer Quilt Ministry?
You can help by praying and tying knots in our prayer quilts.
You can come and join us as we meet each Thursday afternoon at 1:00 pm.  We have a great time of fellowship together and also have a prayer time as we work on the quilts. You can donate fabric, sewing supplies or money to help us keep the ministry going.
