Manna Ministry

Manna Ministry is a faith-based food pantry. Our desire is to provide food for people in need in our community. We are not setup as a crisis-only program although we do help in a crisis. We understand that need is not limited to those with no income but often with limited, fixed incomes or minimum wage jobs; often people that fall through the cracks of government based services.

Distribution is at First Baptist Church, 220 East Central in Arkansas City, Kan. We are open one Saturday a month from 10 am to noon, however, we ramain open as long as there is a line of people. Clients receive enought food for 3-5 days per visit. We do follow established guidelines for food handling and distribution.

Clients meet with a coulselor each visit to update personal informatin and select special food choices. Counselors discuss individual/family needs and, with permission, pray with applicants. There are no religious requirements to receive food. Praying and sharing spiritual information with counselors is optional.

Manna Ministry's financial obligations are met through donations. Although most are from church members, we have received donations from other individuals, area chruches, schools and non-profit groups. First Baptist Church covers the overhead expenses such as facility and utility costs, equipment and supplies. We have no paid workers. All donations are used to purchase grocery items for distribution.
